Release 11.3.0 DETAILS AND FEATURES
SSM API
HPSS now provides a REST API-based interface to SSM. This interface provides a fast, easily programmable, robust interface to monitoring and managing HPSS that facilitates automation.
Web-based SSM Dashboard
HPSS now provides a web-based interface to view SSM status. This provides an easy, modern interface for checking SSM status from any browser.
This web interface currently provides read-only access to a limited set of SSM statistics in this release. Additional views of SSM information and the ability to change SSM configuration changes will be added in upcoming HPSS releases.
Stage Callback Queueing
Stage callback requests are now persisted in metadata and processed similar to read queuing. This enables significantly more parallel stage requests to be managed by the system at once, and to persist across core server restarts.
Pending Config Changes & Config History
This feature provides the ability to view pending HPSS configuration changes – those that will cause the “Apply Config” SSM GUI button to turn yellow and will be applied at the next “Apply Config”. It also provides a tool to view historical configuration changes made on the HPSS system.
ARM Client Support
ARM architecture HPSS client nodes are now supported. Please note that HSI-HTAR is not yet supported on ARM architecture.
Better Support for Tape Library Maintenance
HPSS now provides an easy way to mark a PVR as “Disabled” in the HPSS SSM PVR configuration window in the event that a tape library is down for maintenance. This will cause the PVL to know not to scan it for unexpected volumes, let the Core Server know that all volumes for the Disabled PVR should be treated as if they were in the “DOWN” state, and disable check-in, import, and eject requests for the PVR.
Client Striping Support for s3proxy
This feature allows the HPSS s3proxy client to specify a client stripe width to be used, potentially improving transfer performance.
UNIX Keytab Shadow File
For UNIX authentication, keytabs and passwords have been separated in function and in implementation.
Updated Limits
The Class of Service change stream count can now be configured up to 256.
