DETAILS AND FEATURES

SSM API Improvements

HPSS 12.1 expands the SSM API with more than 30 new APIs for monitoring and managing HPSS. New capabilities include migration and purge policy management, logging and account policy management, disk and object store resource creation, volume information, and other administrative operations.

Introducing SSM CLI

HPSS now provides a command-line utility, ssmcli, built on the SSM API. This utility allows administrators to perform supported HPSS configuration and management operations from the command line. Information can be displayed in table, JSON, text, and YAML formats.

Enhanced Web SSM Navigation

The HPSS Web SSM interface now includes a collapsible navigation section that provides access to additional system information, including PVL jobs, RTM, storage classes, and device data.

Improved S3Proxy Authentication

S3Proxy now supports OpenID Connect (OIDC) authentication. This provides an alternative to password-file authentication, reducing the need for password-file management while retaining support for the existing authentication method.

End-to-End Data Encryption

HPSS now supports optional encryption for data transferred over the network. This allows data to be protected during client-to-Mover and Mover-to-Mover transfers.

Encryption is supported by HPSSFS, S3Proxy, PFTP, hpsscp, hpsscat, hpsssum, and hpsspy. GHI, HSI, and HTAR do not yet support this capability. Refer to the HPSS Admin Guide for configuration details.

Updated Platform Support

HPSS 12.1 adds support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 and Db2 12.1. HPSS supports RHEL 9.x and 10.x, as well as Db2 11.5 and 12.1. Refer to the release documentation for supported operating system and database configurations.

Increased PVR Limit

The maximum number of Physical Volume Repositories (PVRs) supported by HPSS has increased from 64 to 500.
